When we break open the Word in the RCIA process, we are encouraging catechumens and candidates to hear Scripture as a living word that can guide all of us personally in our daily lives. However, hearing Scripture as a living word needs to be rooted in an understanding of the eternal truths that inspired biblical authors are teaching every generation. In this workshop, we will explore how to love Scripture with both our hearts and our minds and how to help candidates and catechumens do the same.

Speaker: Margaret Nutting Ralph, Ph.D.

Dr. Ralph worked for the Covington and Lexington Dioceses for thirty years, as a teacher, Adult Ed. Consultant, Director of RCIA and Evangelization, and finally as Secretary of Educational Ministries for 16 years. Presently she is the director of the Masters in Pastoral Studies program for Catholics at Lexington Theological Seminary. Dr. Ralph is the author of eighteen books on Scripture, including Paulist Press’ bestsellers, And God Said What? and the series, Breaking Open the Lectionary: Lectionary Readings in their Biblical Context for RCIA, Faith Sharing Groups and Lectors (for Cycles A, B, and C of the Lectionary). Her work has been translated into Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Albanian, and Korean.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cuando abrimos la Palabra en el proceso de RICA, alentamos a los catecúmenos y candidatos a escuchar la Escritura como una palabra viva que nos guía a todos en nuestra vida cotidiana.
