Interfaith Food Security Dinner

11/08/2018 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM ET

Description

In 2017, an estimated 1 in 8 Americans were food insecure.
In real terms, this equates to 40 million Americans of all ethnic backgrounds,
living in urban, suburban, and rural areas, and includes more than 12 million children.

Justice and Peace Ministries and Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta (FAMA) invite you to an Interfaith Food Security Dinner on Thursday, November 8, at the Archdiocese of Atlanta Chancery Offices, located at 2401 Lake Park Drive SE, Smyrna, Georgia 30080.  This interfaith evening will kick off our four part event series, Food and Garden as Social Obligation.  We will look at our call as people of faith to feed the hungry and how we can do this in areas of food insecurity.

We will gather at 6:00 p.m. for a social.  Archbishop Wilton Gregory will lead a blessing over the food before dinner at 6:30.  Over the course of the meal, we will listen to speakers present on food security and urban gardening.  All faith traditions are welcome.  We are asking for a $10 donation to help offset the cost of the meal.  Please let us know if you need financial assistance.

The remaining three gatherings in our Food and Garden as Social Obligation series will focus on sustainable gardening, growing your garden, and food pantry ministry.

If you have any questions, please contact Kat Doyle, Director of Justice and Peace Ministries, at kdoyle@archatl.com or 404-920-7897.
